Short answer: choose the socket face by the plugs you already own. Pakistan is listed as using Type C and Type D plugs on 230 V, 50 Hz, but many appliances come with other plugs, so a universal socket is the safest default. Use Schuko, French or UK 3-pin faces only where you know the plug that will go in. Add USB charging where phones live.
A wall socket is hard to change once the wall is finished, so the face is worth deciding early. This guide explains the socket types we list, what each one takes, and where USB charging helps, using only what is in our catalogue and a few general facts from public references.
What plugs does Pakistan use?
Public references list Pakistan as using Type C and Type D plugs, with 230 V and 50 Hz mains. One of them adds that Type C plugs come with most imported appliances, and that most homes and hotels now have universal sockets that accept many plug types. In practice you will meet more than one plug shape in one house: a charger, a kettle, a laptop and an imported appliance can each arrive with a different one.
Universal sockets: the default for mixed plugs
A universal (multi-pin) socket takes both round-pin and flat-pin plugs. We list it in several forms: the Edge Series Universal Socket, the Swiss Luxury MF Socket 13 Amp, and the Swiss Luxury Switched Universal Socket, which adds its own rocker switch and a red indicator light so you can switch the socket off at the wall without unplugging. The MF socket is listed at 13 A. Use universal faces in living rooms, bedrooms and offices, where the next appliance is unknown.

Schuko and French sockets: round, recessed and specific
Both are round and recessed, and they are easy to confuse. A French socket (Type E) has a projecting earth pin. A Schuko socket (Type F) has two earth clips on its sides. A published plug reference notes that Type F plugs fit Type E sockets, and that a Type C plug fits a Schuko socket, but the match is not always two-way, so check the plug before you fix the socket.
We list a Schuko Socket and a French Socket in the Edge Series, each in grey or black. Double-width plates pair a Schuko with a universal socket, or a USB charger with a French socket. Choose these where you know the appliance, such as a kitchen or a utility room.

UK 3-pin sockets: for plugs with three rectangular pins
A UK-style socket (Type G) has three rectangular pin openings. The plug itself carries a fuse, and the type is generally used for currents up to 13 A. Our Edge Series UK 3-Pin Socket comes in grey or black. If you have appliances with UK plugs, this face avoids adapters. If you have a mix, a universal face is the simpler choice.

Adding USB charging
USB faces let a phone charge from the wall while the socket stays free. The Edge Series Double USB Charger has two USB-A ports and a small red indicator light. The Swiss Luxury MF Socket 13 Amp + 2-USB puts two USB-A ports beside a universal socket, with the USB output marked 5 V DC, up to 2100 mA. For laptops and faster phone charging, the Swiss 65W Fast Charging Socket has two USB-C Power Delivery ports and one USB-A Quick Charge port, 65 W in total, in glass or matte finish. Put USB faces by the bed, the sofa and the desk.
Keeping the room consistent
Edge Series sockets share a two-layer glass plate with a stepped edge, so they match the Edge Series switches in our Glass Switches. Planning the switches too? Read our guides to switch gangs and dimmers and to glass, matt, R-Series and smart switches, or the smart home setup guide.

Frequently asked questions
Which socket type is used in Pakistan?
Pakistan is listed as using Type C and Type D plugs on 230 V, 50 Hz mains. Many appliances arrive with other plugs, so universal sockets are common in homes. Tell us which plugs your appliances have and we will suggest the right socket face.
What is the difference between a French and a Schuko socket?
Both are round and recessed. A French (Type E) socket has a projecting earth pin, while a Schuko (Type F) socket has two earth clips on its sides. They look similar but are not the same, so match the socket to your plugs.
Does a universal socket take every plug?
Our universal sockets take both round-pin and flat-pin plugs, which suits mixed appliances. Whether a specific plug fits depends on its pins, so send us a photo of the plug on WhatsApp before you order.
Can I get a wall socket with USB ports?
Yes. The Edge Series has a Double USB Charger and a USB Charger + French Socket plate. The Swiss Luxury MF Socket 13 Amp + 2-USB marks its USB output as 5 V DC, up to 2100 mA. For faster charging, the Swiss 65W Fast Charging Socket has two USB-C and one USB-A port.
Who installs the sockets?
Our own electricians install in Lahore (in Islamabad, the electricians of our partner AVS Group do). Elsewhere, use your own qualified electrician, because installation by a qualified electrician is a condition of the warranty.
