Glass, Matt, R-Series and Smart Switches: How to Choose in Pakistan

Short answer: choose glass switches for a premium look with the widest range of module types, matt switches for a plain, low-reflection finish and the most configurations, R-Series piano switches for a classic piano-key action, and smart switches if you want to control lights and fans electronically. All four ranges at Swiss Home Automation carry the same 12-month warranty from the date of invoice.

Picking a switch range is mostly about three things: how you want the plate to look, which modules you need on the same plate (switches, dimmers, sockets, USB), and whether you want smart control. This guide compares the four ranges in our catalogue using what is actually listed on the site.

Glass switches: the widest choice of finishes and modules

Our Glass Switches collection is the largest range. It includes the Swiss Luxury series (Black, White, Grey and Gold finishes on many items), the Swiss Aluminum series (Black and Grey) and the newer Swiss Luxury Edge Series (Grey and Black). Modules include 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 gang switches, fan dimmers, bell push, multi-function sockets, Euro sockets and sockets with USB.

Choose this range if you want one family that can cover a whole home, from simple switches to combined switch-and-dimmer plates.

Matt switches: one finish, many configurations

The Matt Switches come in three colours (Black, White and Grey). Each colour is offered in 27 configurations, from 1 gang to 6 gang plates, switch-and-socket combinations, dimmers, bell push and multi-function sockets with USB and Type-C. If you prefer a plain, non-glossy plate and want plenty of layout options, this is the range to look at.

R-Series piano switches: three colours, sixteen configurations

The R-Series Piano Switches are sold as three lines: R1 in White, R2 in Grey and R3 in Black. Each line offers 16 configurations, including 1 to 6 gang plates, 2-way switches, bell push, a fan dimmer, power switch and several multi-function socket options. Pick this range if you like the piano-key look and want a single colour throughout the house.

Smart switches: electronic control for lights, fans and curtains

The Smart Switches range covers 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 gang switches, a 4 gang plus dimmer, a light and fan dimmer, a 20 A power switch and a curtain switch, in Black, White, Grey and Gold. For wall-mounted control, see our control panel comparison. If you are planning voice control, read the Alexa and Google Home compatibility guide first.

Which range suits which room?

There is no single right answer, but a few rules of thumb help. For living rooms and bedrooms, where the plate is always in view, the finish matters most, so compare the glass and matt ranges side by side and think about the wall colour. For kitchens and utility areas, where you tend to need several sockets, look at the multi-function socket and USB options in each range. For rooms with ceiling fans, check that the range you choose lists a fan dimmer. If you want to keep one look across the whole house, stay within a single range, because the colours and plate sizes are designed to match.

Mixing ranges is possible, for example smart switches in the lounge and matt switches elsewhere, but you will notice the difference in finish. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your wall or your room plan on WhatsApp and we will help you list the modules you need.

How to plan your gangs and dimmers

Count the lights you want to control from each position, then add a dimmer only where you want adjustable brightness. A 1 gang plate controls one circuit, a 2 gang plate two, and so on. Fan dimmers and power switches are separate modules, so list them as their own positions. Because plates are mounted into the wiring, ask a qualified electrician to confirm the box size and wiring before you order.

Warranty

Our warranty policy states: smart switches, glass switches, matt switches and R-Series switches are covered for 12 months from the date of invoice.
